The fabrics used to cover base sets
One of the biggest leaps that has taken place in the industry is the "Ticking" that covers the mattress.
In the past they used synthetic fabrics that were non- hypoallergenic and very abrasive to the touch.
If you stayed a long time in bed you knew all about it!
Now'a days they move toward a "knit" fabric that covers the bed. You get various different types of "Knits",
but generally the best type of knits come out of the fabric mills in Belgium. They are the leader in Knitted fabric.
The main advantage of the knit fabric is what you can add to the fibres. Because it is mostly cotton
it has great anti-fungal properties, and because it is a natural fibre it breathes, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer.
